PCN notifications under the spotlight of the authorities
January 2025 marks the end of the transition period for the new harmonized European notifications, PCN. This implies that any product placed on the European market, and meeting the requirements established by the regulation (further information here), will need to have its dossier presented and updated according to the harmonized format in all the countries where it is marketed.
Matching this date, the inspections included in the REACH-EN-FORCE (REF-13), project will begin, coordinated by the Enforcement forum of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). These inspections will aim to protect human health by verifying the information submitted to the ECHA portal and its coincidence with product labels and Safety Data Sheets. ECHA will release more information regarding the inspections in the coming months, but the duration already established will be during the first 6 months of 2025, with the results being able to be presented at the end of this year.
Additionally, other parallel inspections, within the same project, will focus on products sold online, checking classifications, labeling, and packaging (CLP Regulation) of these mixtures.
At SIAM, we work to simplify the process of creating and keeping the necessary documentation for your chemical products up to date, with special care in maintaining the consistency of the data presented to the PCN with the labels and SDS of the products. To achieve this aim, our CHEMETER software allows you to create SDS, labels and PCN dossiers using a single database kept updated according to the latest regulatory news.
