Time is over: the new SDS requirements under Annex II will be mandatory for the next year
Regulation (EU) 2020/878, which modifies Annex II of the REACH Regulation and establishes new requirements for the safety data sheets of chemical products in the European Union, has been in effect for the last two years. It came into force on January 1, 2021, and since then there are many of you who are already making changes required by the new regulations in your SDS , which include:
- •Specific requirements related to nanoforms, whose information must be included in the SDS
- •Introduction of the Unique Formula Identifier or UFI Code when not mentioned on the label (Section 1.1.)
- •Endocrine disrupting properties (Sections 2.3, 11 and 12)
- •Reference to specific concentration limits (SCL), M-factors and acute toxicity estimate (ATE) (Section 3.1. or 3.2.)
- •Extension of section 9: Physical and chemical properties
As you well know, the introduction of these new information represents a significant additional effort for companies, which in many cases must update hundreds of safety data sheets. For this reason, a transition period was established to make it easier for the chemical products industry to adapt to the new regulations; a period that ends on December 31, 2022, just three from now.
We have already pointed out that, according to our own experience, many of our clients have already taken the step of carrying out the SDS according to the new regulation in the last two years, but we are also aware that there are many companies that are rushing time and are approaching to the deadline without having updated their SDS. If this is your case, we strongly recommend you to start the update process immediately, and we put at your disposal our CHEMETER software that will facilitate the transition by automatically carrying out the SDS according to the new regulations and thus complying with the next deadline.
CHEMETER: your Safety Data Sheets always up to date
Chemeter is an innovative, dynamic and updated software that will help your company to generate your Safety Data Sheets so that they always comply with current regulations in a very simple and intuitive way.
Its principle is simple: it is an automated tool that generates the FDF documentation through an automatic calculation that adapts both to the regulations of each country in which the product is marketed (language, technical requirements, format, limit values, etc.) and to the specific regulations of the sector in which they are working.
To make it possible, our international team of experts in chemical legislation is responsible for constantly updating the software to national and international regulations related to the specific regions in which they operate, adding new functionalities on a regular basis that allow us to satisfy all the needs of our clients in real time.
In addition, we put at your disposal a team of professionals who will be happy to answer all your questions and who will guide you step by step in integrating the software into your current system.
