Notification B.E. 2555 is the GHS (Rev. 3) adaptation in Thailand.
The Notification B.E. 2555 came into force on March 12th, 2012. Its implementation consisted of two-steps procedure, first involving single substances (March 13th, 2013) and later to mixtures (March 13th, 2017).
The main organism responsible for GHS implementation in Thailand is the the Thailand’s Department of Industrial Works (DIW). Other relevant organisms are the Thai Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA) and the Departments of Agriculture and Fisheries.
The Notification B.E. 2555 applies to chemicals listed in the List of Hazardous Substances regulated by the Hazardous Substance Act. Therefore, hazardous substances not under responsibility of DIW or FDA, such as pesticides, biocides, detergents, cosmetics, chemical wastes and used electronic devices, among others, fall out of the scope of Notification B.E. 2555.
