Almabe obtains ENAC accreditation for microbiological and physicochemical testing in cosmetics

Almabe, a laboratory integrated into Siam, has obtained accreditation from the Spanish National Accreditation Body (ENAC) for three of its tests, reinforcing its commitment to the quality, reliability and traceability of analytical results.

At Siam, we are pleased to celebrate a new milestone for Almabe: obtaining ENAC accreditation No. 1657/LE2990 for three of the tests carried out in its laboratory.

The Spanish National Accreditation Body (ENAC) is responsible for assessing the technical competence of entities performing conformity assessment activities in Spain. This accreditation recognises that the tests included within the accredited scope are carried out in accordance with established technical requirements and under procedures that ensure the reliability, traceability and consistency of the results.

Three tests accredited by ENAC

Almabe currently holds ENAC accreditation for the following tests:

• Determination of pH in aqueous solutions by potentiometry (2.0–12.0 pH units) in detergents and cosmetics, according to UNE-EN 1262.
• Enumeration of mesophilic aerobic bacteria in cosmetics, according to UNE-EN ISO 21149+A1.
• Enumeration of yeasts and moulds in cosmetics, according to UNE-EN ISO 16212+A1.

Accreditation is not granted to the laboratory as a whole, but specifically to the tests included within its accredited scope. For customers, this provides an additional guarantee regarding the quality and reliability of the results obtained.

What does this accreditation provide?

Accreditation is a voluntary process through which an independent body assesses the technical competence, procedures, resources and controls implemented by a laboratory.

For Almabe’s customers, having accredited tests provides a number of benefits:

• Reliability of results. Accredited tests are performed under externally assessed procedures and are subject to periodic controls.
• Traceability. All processes associated with the test follow documented criteria that ensure the traceability of the results.

• Response to market requirements. An increasing number of companies, public bodies and regulatory processes require or positively value tests performed by accredited laboratories.
