Belgium-Updates-Fees-for-Hazardous-Mixture-Notifications

Belgian authorities have announced a modification to the fees applicable for notifications of hazardous mixtures to poison centres; a change that will impact companies marketing chemical products in the country.

The Belgian Federal Office of Public Health has stated that, with the entry into force of the Belgian Royal Decree of July 2, 2025 (No. 2025/1234), the fees payable for submitting notifications of hazardous mixtures will be adjusted. This measure aims to optimize data management and ensure a more efficient response in health emergencies.

Notifications are mandatory for all companies marketing mixtures classified as hazardous in the Belgian market, in compliance with Regulation (EC) Nº1272/2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP) and national legislation. Starting January 1, 2026, an annual fee will apply based on the number of mixtures notified:

It is important to note that notifications submitted during a calendar year will be invoiced by FPS Health at the beginning of the following year. Furthermore, this is a one-time fee: once the notification has been correctly submitted and the corresponding fee paid, it will remain valid indefinitely. However, a new notification and payment will be required if there is any change in the composition of the mixture that requires an update, in accordance with Annex VIII, Part B, Point 4 of CLP Regulation.
