Extension-of-SVHC-listing-to-250-candidate-substances_EN

ECHA adds 3 new entries to the Candidate List. Following the addition of 3 new entries, the EU Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) now comprises 250 substances.

As of 25 June 2025, two new substances characterised as very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB) have been added to the Candidate List:

  • 1,1,1,1,3,5,5,5,5-heptamethyl-3-[(trimethylsilyl)oxy]trisiloxane (CAS 17928-28-8): mainly used as a laboratory reagent, in cosmetics and personal care products and in perfumes and fragrances.
  • Decamethyltetrasiloxane (CAS 141-62-8): used in cosmetics and personal care products, in lubricants and greases and in car care products.

On the other hand, one substance has been identified as toxic for reproduction:

  • • (tetra(sodium/potassium) 7-[(E)-{2-acetamido-4-[(E)-(4-{[4-chloro-6-({2-[(4-fluoro-6-{[4-(vinylsulfonyl)phenyl]amino}-1,3, 5-triazin-2-yl)amino]propyl}amino)-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl]amino}-5-sulfonato-1-naphthyl)diazenyl]-5-methoxyphenyl}diazenyl]-1,3,6-naphthalenetrisulfonate) (EC 466-490-7): This substance, commonly known as reactive brown 51, is used in textile treatment products and dyes.

If a product contains a Candidate List substance in a concentration greater than 0.1% by weight, suppliers have a responsibility to provide their customers and consumers with information on how to use it safely. In addition, they must notify ECHA if their product contains a Candidate List substance within six months of the date of its inclusion on the Candidate List, in this case by 25 December 2025.

For more information on the obligations arising from having these substances in products, please see What is an SVHC?
