CLP Regulation Updated: Official Correction of H-Phrases Published in October 2025

On October 15, the corrigendum 2025/90818 was published, introducing corrections to the Spanish wording of several hazard statements (H-phrases) included in the CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on the classification, labelling, and packaging of substances and mixtures.

This adjustment exclusively affects the Spanish version of certain H-phrases, aiming to improve linguistic accuracy and align them with the original technical meaning. Although these changes do not alter the chemical content or scope of the phrases, it is important to update safety data sheets and labels that include these phrases to reflect the new official wording.

The official document modifies the Spanish wording of several H phrases related to hazards to the aquatic environment (H410, H411, H412 and H413) by removing the word ‘nocivo’, which means harmful.

Where should H-phrases be taken from?

It is important to remember that, as established in point 4 of Article 21 of the CLP Regulation, H-phrases must be written exactly as they appear in Annex III of the regulation. This point is key, as the text in Annex I should not be used as a reference for drafting hazard statements.
