As we explained in our news, in March 2023, the European Union's Classification, Labeling, and Packaging (CLP) Regulation underwent a significant modification by adding new hazard classes to address toxicity, persistence, mobility, and bioaccumulation in the environment, as well as the endocrine-disrupting properties of substances.
At the end of 2024, ECHA published a modification to the initial schedule that included the application times of these new hazard classes for mixtures and substances marketed after the mandatory application dates.

Based on this new schedule, it is understood that the transitional periods for the application of the new hazard classes would only apply to substances and mixtures that were already on the EU market before the mandatory application date, thus allowing the sale of these stocks without the need for relabeling. For substances, the mandatory application date would be November 1, 2026, and for mixtures, it would be May 1, 2028. This means that from these dates onwards, there could be no substances or mixtures on the market that are labeled without considering the new hazard classes.
Regarding substances and mixtures placed on the market after the mandatory application date (May 1, 2025, and May 1, 2026, respectively), the new hazard classes must be taken into account.
